A South African (Cape Town) born musician and composer, playing alto and soprano saxophones, as well as the silver flute. As a student of jazz and improvised music, Smith sites his keen interest in the traditional musics of the world as a main influence to his sound and compositions. He takes a particular keen interest in the musical styles of Africa, South Africa, as well as countries of the far and middle east.
